All of us can make our own decisions...but whether those decisons are wise or not depends upon the information that one has at his/her disposal. I am writing this post to inform people of a school that I recommend staying far away from. SISA Foreign Language Institute has a reputation on Jeju (specifically the director Mr. Roh) of being very corrupt and shady. He has several court cases pending in which he tried to royally screw teachers over (several million won) and severeal assault charges (one individual was our friend). Be warned there are MUCH better contract in Korea (and in Jeju)...the benefits (seemingly in the job offer) are not worth what you will have to deal with. I am not sure if this is the place to post this warning or not...let me know. And, hey, everyone can make there own decisions...my advice...do your research into this school before signing anything. I know several teachers that you could talk to and if you want further details...feel free to PM me. Below is the schools job post...

I know of four teachers, personally, who against advice, signed with SISA and the owner, No/Roh. All four were cheated out of severance, basic pay and a few other things. And this was within the past two years. A hangout in Jeju called "Playhouse" or "The Playhouse" if I recall is where many teachers get together after hours. Most will set you straight about SISA. But then again, it is never the school that is bad, it's only the owner. |
