Can you get limes in Seoul?
Those limes last for up to 2 months in your fridge and are great for juicing. In the states, I'd get a bunch of them for like 16 cents each on sale and stock up. They are great in drinks and on seafood.
Those limes can turn brown after 2 months and still be good as they are resilient and don't mold like the lemons. They are much juicier and taste better than lemons. The limeys are great for the long haul.
I see moldy lemons everywhere in Korea that say, USA, on them, but no hearty limes that could survive the long logistical path beautifully in getting to Korea. I noticed for Korea being such a wealthy expensive country, shopping is terribly limited, but Seoul can offer exceptions to how limited and unavailable many things really are in the rest of Korea.
Where do you buy your limes? Surely there's a Wal-Mart Super center or a real supermarket up there offering all the wonderful things the world has to offer. Just kidding. LOL |

Can't find the whole green ones either but I did score the next best; I went to an industrial area in Incheon and found a Hallal (sp?) store. They had plain, organic lime juice with little bits and everything. There seems to be a great number of these stores in the Industrial complexes to meet the needs of the immigrants. I've been adding the lime to my Mexican food and cocktails. I had to order in some cilantro, however. I'm going back this week for chickpeas and more juice. |

A ridiculous price for 10 limes but found some here:

Maybe there is a lot of mark up on this home delivery site and you can get them at Costco a lot cheaper yourself although I did find a pint of fresh blueberries at Costco for 15,000 won...so maybe not. |

No wonder they call it 'ezshop'. Limes at 4,000 won each? It's easier to shop at 'ezshop' when you have no brain.
I suppose you could be forced to pay 38,000 for ten of them. Then pretend they're your only cure against scurvy and ration them on your long 'sea voyage'. You could also pretend you're a pirate.
All to justify the expensive limes. |

Thanks for the lead. yes, Hannam mart is a decent shop despite it being small, over priced, and limited too. I didn't see anything about Ansan having them or where you'd go in Ansan. Wow, I just searched and yes this has been asked a few times. Back in 2003, they mention Wal-mart had them for 5000 won for 2 bags of key limes. I bet Wal-Mart was forced out of Korea due to protectionism despite it having a great selection at great prices. Too bad Wal-Mart and Taco Bell are no longer in Korea.
Wow $4 each. They're commonly 16 cents to 39 cents each in the states, but that's Wal-Mart prices. America would have to starve if they had it rough like the Koreans when it comes to shopping. I would imagine it's the dismal logistical state of affairs in Korea why so many items like a lime are not available and the 1 or 2 places they are, it's crazy expensive. It's not that it's difficult to get a lime to Korea as they hold up much better than lemons. |

There's a kind of juice drink, maybe Sunkist?, that is the best tasting lemonade, grapefruitade, and LIMEAID. It comes in a can or a plastic bottle. The can is 350ml and the plastic bottle is 500ml. The plastic bottle and can are white, mostly, with a picture of lemon, grapefruit, or lime depending on what it is.
The LIMEaid is really good and well, tastes like lime. So it's good, and cheap, and readily available. Here it's in the grocery store and GS mart confectionery.
Homplus has 'lime grenades'. You know those life-size plastic containers shaped like a lime. The equivalent of ten limes I think's in there. |
