|
|
My friend, who is from England, wants to extend his E-visa for four months. The problem is that his visa expires early August. He is staying with the same employer, but on his original E-2 visa he didn't require a criminal background check. So if he was to extend for four more months at the same place, is this a requirement? If so, how does he obtain one?
I understand that the background check takes up to 40 days to complete, but his current contract expires on August 8th. Is there anyway around this??
Any information would be greatly appreciated!! |

YES your friend needs the crim record check if extending current visa to work. (Don't if for tourism purposes).
YES he/she can maybe get it in time if apply now for subject access check thru local copshop HQ. The fun starts when you realise the application form (available online) has to be sent with 2 forms of proof that u reside at a UK address currently ). **U could of course just copy documents still listing that address or call cops and ask em about it**
Dunno if u can extend for just 4 months tho. |

I've just had to do a fast criminal check as mine expires August 9th (older than 6 months). If he has an address in the UK where it can be sent then he can apply online with Disclosure Scotland with no proof of address etc.
It says on the site that you have to be resident in the UK to do this but the man I talked to at DS said it was fine if you just have a family or friend's address.
I've just given my sister's address and so she'll send it to me when it arrives. It takes 10 days apparently. |
