Ho Lee Chow isn't half bad. It is very hit or miss though. I've had better experiences at the one in Apgujeong. |

You'll have a much better chance finding Chinese restaurants with much more reasonable prices in Dong-Gyo Dong area. Loads of Chinese people live there, so naturally you will find loads of Chinese restaurants. |

I am still looking for good Chinese food myself... Dim Sum specifically. (a Hong Kong/Cantonese meal)... I've been to the two big ones in Myeong-dong, and whilst sitting there with an actual Chinese person, we both couldn't believe how terribly bad and unauthentic it was. My other Chinese friend from Hong Kong refused to even go there with us, since he knew right away it would be horrible. I even found squid in my spring roll, it was that bad... I mean, it was beyond bad. The sticky rice tasted like porridge and had no flavor.
The most authentic I've had is Jackie's Kitchen, which is terribly lacking in choices, and rather tasteless.
Where is some good Chinese dim sum? Must I buy a plane ticket to Hong Kong???

hmmmm, I thought the 'big famous one in Meyong-dong' wasn't all that bad. |

The one sort of in the subway or the multi-floored one? The multi-floored one was the worst, the "in the subway" one is as good as Jackie's Kitchen (which is doable for me I suppose).
Then again, I've been eating authentic Dim Sum in Vancouver's Chinatown since being a 3 year old kid, so perhaps I have high expectations... |

Ho Lee Chow is in Hamilton Hotel just above the entrance. You can easily enter in the back side of Hamilton. |

The mulit-floored one, ( think it's called Din Tai Fung) is actually Taiwanese Chinese, not Cantonese, so the dim sum is accordingly from Taiwan, not HK - hence the quality.
Jackie's Kitchen was so-so but they don't seem to be doing as well as they used to in Korea. I have heard the Chinese restaurants in the (good) hotels have decent dim sum, but you'll be paying a hefty price for it. If you want Cantonese food, a good quick fix can be found at Ho Lee Chow, but like a previous poster said, it's kind of hit and miss. There is a new chinese restaurant in Itaewon called My China (nearby 3 Alley) but I don't know if they do dim sum. |
