For those who have gone before, do you think it's better to book ahead (train or bus) or is it okay to just show up at the bus/train terminal on Satudray morning?
I'll be leaving from Seoul with a large group of friends (7-8 people) and don't want to be stuck without transportation.
Thanks in advance. |

Whats the name of the nearest station to the mudfest? I saw a map with Daechon station, but this is not being confused with Daejeon, which is miles away, is it? And is the station near all the action or is it a bus/taxi ride to the beach? |

Daechon station is the station here. Dunno why they sometimes call it Boryeong, and sometimes Daechon. You'll have to take a bus or taxi down to the beach, and there are loads of taxis around. Might cost a bit...the beach is about 20 min away from the actual Boryeong town. Buses are much cheaper, but never taken one down there. Usually ride my bike. |

If you take the train you want to go to Boryeong. From there you can either get a taxi which'll take about 7 minutes or take the bus, it takes about 15 minutes. The bus station is next to the train station. If you're coming from Seoul take the Iksan line. The Saemaeul is the quickest and it's probably best to book that. Will take about 2 hours 40 minutes and cost in the region of 15 000 won. |

Take the train to Daecheon station (boreyeong). There are several trains. Can remember the cost (sorry). The taxis will know where you want to go when you get there.
Every year we have left on the friday night. Got there, got a room with a bed and had no problems. They totally up the prices at this time of year as its their money making week. Hotel rooms are between 60-100. When they say "it will sleep 5" (we will give you 5 blankets n pillows, try n find a corner of the room to sleep in). At the end of the beach about ten min walk from the festivites there are a bunch of hotels with nice rooms n beds for about 70-80. Also don't have to deal with all the drunks running around if you want to go to bed early.
Booking ahead for hotels not necessary.
Although I have gone for the last 4 years and each year it gets more popular. Too many people!!!! Make sure your phone is charged with cash and battery if you are trying to find your friends on the beach because its impossible! Also over last two years it has got popular with the military guys who like to rent those stupid mini bikes n drive around like drunken idiots.
(As you can probably tell I'm not going this year ) |

I'm heading in from Gwangju, was wondering if anyone knows how late the bus system runs there. I want to try to make this a day trip to save some cash. |

This is why I still haven't decided if I want to go. Not really a mud person either. Oh damn, I don't know. Maybe it will be fun, but maybe not. |

Tickets from Yongsan to Daechon are 23,000 round trip.
I booked 10 tickets yesterday (for the 19th), seemed as though there were still seats available. Out of curiosity I asked about tomorrow, and she said that seats were pretty limited.
Get on it, folks. |

Not to sound like a snob or anything, but I've never gone to this thing and I never will. I mean, tons of people in all of that mud, then you get it on yourself, and that is just yucky! I mean, how clean is that? Too dirty for me. You may end up catching parasites or some kind of worms from the mud, some kind of nasty skin rash or athletes foot from all of those people. If I want mud, I will buy my own and put it on at home, or go to a spa. Almost as unsafe as going to that beach where the oil spill was, IMO. |
