I know I have read a similar post before, but the search is not working right now and only seems to turn up a blank page. I am coming back to Korea this month, however, last time I was there I did not turn in my ARC card. What does this mean for me this time? I have heard of being fined like a 100,000 won. Any useful info would be great. thanks!

"If you leave Korea after your contract ends, you are usually required to turn in your ARC when going through immigration at the airport in Korea. If you do a midnight run, and do not tell immigration of your intent not to return, you get to keep your card.

If you return to Korea, you will be issued the same serial number on your new ARC, so save the number. Receiving a new card takes a certain amount of time, and it speeds things up being able to reference the number when making inqiries at the pension office, for instance, in the mean time."

last time i left korea, i accidentally checked my ARC in my luggage.
i had to give 100,000 won in cash to the imigration officer at customs before i could board the plane to japan!

so who knows? they might still hit you up for the fine when you return...

do you still have the card?

It means you'll have to have get another ARC... just like you would if you had turned it in when you left.

Nah, I kept mine when I left last year and just got back on Saturday. The immi guy just asked if my visa was new and that was it. No fine or nothin'.
