I'm leaving my current job at the end of this month because I got a much better offer from another company. Better pay, higher position and just better in every respect. One of the main factors involved in my decision to leave my current company was my immediate boss. In the past few months, I've totally lost respect for my boss due to differences in personality, working styles and her behavior towards me - basically, she's impossible to work with. She tries to micromanage everything - she hired me because of my experience yet doesn't trust me enough to make any decisions of my own, and as a result, nothing ever seems to get resolved. And believe me, I'm not the only person who feels this way. There are six of us on our team, and one person left last month, and two of us are leaving at the end of this month. At my new job, I will be in a higher position (and making more money than her - ha ha), so she's been nicer to me in the past few weeks after I told her that I was leaving because we work in a small business industry where everyone knows each other.

However, today and yesterday, we butted heads over a non-issue...and
I'm about to have it out with my boss today even though I only have a week and a half left until I leave this company. I want to leave on good terms, and that was always my intention, but I am literally on fire right now. Someone please stop me from doing this! Mad

You're literally on fire? What the hell are you doing, writing a post? Put yourself out!!!

Er, I think that you're beyond the point of leaving on good terms. So write "Helter Skelter" on the walls if you want. I doubt you'll get a good reference from this place in the future anyway.

Sorry. I'm just so frustrated and can't really talk to anyone about it, so I'm venting here on Dave's. Pathetic, I know.

And for the record, I don't need a good reference from her. Trust me, she needs me more than I need her right now. And after I leave, she will still need me more than I need her.

Nah, not pathetic at all. You are not owned by your employer, and some of them tend to think they are God and you must worship them at their feet. Little do they know how much they need you. Get out of there! And smile as you wave goodbye!

Venting on Dave's is perfectly cool. Good luck to ya.

You have an F-4 visa right? Smack that b__y__ch!

Just kidding.

The best solution to everything in life is to be passive-aggressive. You could think of some pranks that will hurt slightly physically, but cause tremendous emotional damage (i.e. stuff a piece of Limberger cheese deeply into the exhaust pipe of her car).

Nah, I'm just kidding about that too.

Just wait it out. The fact that you will be making more will have her seethe with envy. That's revenge enough.

Try this,

Every time she wants to get into it with you, just pull out your pocket calendar and point to your last day, be sure to point to the clock on the wall. Don't say anything, just point and walk away. That will do something for you, and who knows it may even sink in to her.

Just a lame possibility, but what the heck, I am just posting today because I am trying to relax and look at what other people are going through. If I was smart I would step away from the computer right now and take my wife out for lunch. Good idea, I think I will. Smile

Haha, good idea Tob. I love it. Another thing that gets me about these bad bosses is they think we "owe" them or something... for paying for our apt., plane ticket, etc, and therefore can treat us any which way they want.

Nope.

That is simply not the way it works, and not the way to treat others. Give them something, then make them "pay" for it. No way. Especially when there are tons of other options out there. And it looks like the OP found such an option. Good work OP.

'The best form of revenge is living well'

Just smile and ask her if she has found a replacment yet, tell her about
the recession back home and that it shouldn't be that hard to find someone, tell her what you will be doing next week 'I'm off to a fancy dress party' smile as you do it.

Good luck! Cool

what i don't get is why the posters who always find time to ridicule and question why the OP is posting on Daves are usually the first to respond, and for that matter start no threads of their own b/c there scared of what people will think of them.

Obviously the OP was asking for advice in a legitimate scenario and you still found a way to put her down.

Typical Dave's posters. Many refuse to help newbies or offer any info to help anyone else, but they'll flame newbies as "the problem."
Want to know the truth about many posters here? I received this advice from Roch when I first started posting on Dave's. Many are jerks and immature punks. They are working illegally and get cheated by their hagwon masters far worse than anyone knows, but instead of having the courage to do something about it, they post on here, lashing out at other teachers.
