Ok, my homeboy biotch MM2 is calling me to task on believing in witches. Now since MM2 uses the same logic as a Monty Python video, I thought this could start this riveting argument. |

Could you actually provide some evidence of witches? And what would you define as a witch, just so we're on the same page here. |

Any practioner of Wicca is, technically, a witch, although not the preferred term. |

Are Christians allowed to be monty python fans? I didn't think so..
Anyway I voted no, because I'm not suffering from any sort of mental disability. |

Preposterous! Why would anyone challenge such a widely held belief?

Genius. I got totally fed up with MM2 constant references to the Spanish Inquisition and dead parrots when asked simple questions about evolution. If only he'd learn to back his arguments up with something like, I dunno, invitations to a UFC show down and youtube videos showing all my favourite rock bands. Luckily we have you to provide us with this argument reductio ad pythonium. |

I'd like a clear definition of a witch before entering the fray. |

Feathers of Madison County I don't believe in witches. I have no test for a witch any more so than I have a test for Santa Claus. You believe in witches, in the 21st century. You seem to believe Harry Potter is real. People being raised from the dead. People making gem dust appear out of no where.
I keep asking Sudden Egg Layer to argue science, as he claims to have been trained in that venue, but he's recently been reduced to trolling youtube and letting pretty pictures do his talking. And when that doesn't work you threaten to beat me up. You been finding a lot of good christian chat on this board? You're doing what here exactly? Other than a) making christians seem like suckers b) giving us all a great laugh at your expense. |

I always wanted to be a witch, but didn't end up going for it after all. Joined a witch lecture series for a while, but a nasty witch/bitch put me off it. Lost touch with all the witches I knew in uni ...

Like scientists, there are bad witches and good witches - the "white" witches apparently follow ethical codes.
Lots of information (and conjecture) in the Wikipedia article on witchcraft:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witchcraft
There's a separate article for "Asian witchcraft" -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asian_witchcraft
It briefly mentions that the ancient Atharva veda contains numerous charms and spells classically associated with witchcraft... |

People have been making good trade of superstition for millenia. And I doubt (mostly due to the entertainment factor) that it will end anytime soon. |
