Now that they seem to be taking people without college diplomas, I am curious what was happening to the people who tried to forge their way in. Was it just an immigration ban or was it something worse?

It they were unsucessful they were not allowed in. If they were 'successful', then got caught: detention (rice, kimchee, grass clippings and some horrific seafood/weed soup 3X a day... bonus: there are no gays in K-land), court appearances, a fine and extradition. Cool

Korea was threatening 6 month prison terms in some high-profile (media) cases. Much more than rape in this country.

I knew a guy who got caught last year...

He as fined, deported, has a report with immigration, and cant return to korea for a minumum of 5 years... not sure if there was anything else.

Do you mean penalties for foreigners or Koreans?
