I'm finishing up my year of working my ass off teaching adults. I'm off to go find something a little more laid back. I'd still like to make $1000 or more a month but I'm not picky.
Where would you go and why? |

From that list, Vietnam wins hands-down for me. I've also thought about Laos and Cambodia, maybe even the Philippines. The only problem with the Philippines is that I wouldn't save a penny. It'd all get blown on beer and scuba. It would be fun though. |

If they paid my moving costs and such, I'd teach in Saudi or thereabouts for a year or two, save some major coin, then come back to reality. |

I don't think I could handle the middle east. The idea of not being able to get a beer whenever I feel like it is just too much. Also, I don't fancy the weather. I spent a few hours in Qatar once, and it was the hottest I have ever been.
Immense heat + major restrictions on beer = NO WAY |

Cambodia and Laos would be very interesting places to teach I think.
Mongolia as well. I've had a few job offers there after I visited Mongolia
last year. Wonderful people and a fascinating country. |

If the pay didn't suck, I would keep myself right here in Thailand. |

I want to teach in one of the Northern European countries, like the Netherlands, one of the Scandanavian countries, Finland, Germany, maybe France, or some other similarly rich place. I haven't spent enough time in Europe. |

A TESOL Certificate and some experience can land you a gig at a community college. No certification required at that level. |

Argentina - lots of EFL work but I don't like working 'en negro'
I like to be legal but if there was a way of doing it I would
work in Argentina.
Or Russia/Ukraine - However I look too Libyan for the average knuckle dragging racist ape who lurks on the Moscow metro with 20 of his friends and they like to use their knives to stab you - the fact the local polista are as much scum as the criminals who run amok stabbing up and killing foreigners means thats crossed off my list - seeing as any EFL work I will be doing in Russia will mean travelling on the metro! |

What did you see that threw you off?
I've always been entertaining the idea of teaching in China... most likely when the job market there goes up and this one goes down. |

KYC - What non-English speaking countries would you teach in?
I'm looking at Vietnam because living costs are low, work hours are flexible, and the pay can be reasonable.
Argentina would be my second choice but maybe it should be my first? How much could you reasonably make there?
After a year of working my ass off I'm more interested in flexibility and life style than I am in cash. Still, I'd love to save $500-1000 a month. |

Really? I do have a TESOL and will have 2 years experience when I head home. I'll hold you accountable if I don't land that gig!

I just couldn't picture myself living there day to day. Then again China is huge and I only went to Beijing Saw an ad at Park English for China and they listed 60 days for vacation...sounds kinda sweet.

I don't know. I want to go SOMEWHERE obviously..just haven't heard anything too attractive right now.
Vietnam can be a great place for saving potentials since cost of living is so low. However, I am ethnically Vietnamese and I honestly know I would hate working there. I am too westernized to put up with the "culture differences." I would face more adversities as well being Vietnamese American and too much of a wuss to handle it. |
