Yes I'm going.

You can camp there if you pay a 10,000 won fee. As for renting tents, it's available as well for more money, I don't know how much exactly... there is a contact on the website.

The bands are not too exciting in my opinion but I got free tickets.

Yeah the bands aren't great, I was hoping for more Fuji Rock acts on the bill, Primal Scream and My Bloody Valentine esp. but I always miss what I set out to see at these things anyway.

Theres information on the site, but the English section is quite sparse. It says theres tent rental but also that theres limited amounts, Im not planning to head down until Saturday so I'm just wondering if all the rental tents will be gone...

Hmm I should ask my boyfriend, he took care of it. I think he emailed the contact then got a phone number, and had to call to get the camping info. We're camping but not renting a tent, I think a friend will bring one.

I'm surprised the line-up is so bad considering all the big names going to Fuji and Summer Sonic. Actually I'm also going to Summer Sonic in Tokyo in two weeks, I'm psyched. Many amazing bands there.

Yeah! I'd love to be heading to Summer Sonic, the line ups amazing. Love Spiritualized.

If you can find out any info from your boyfriend could you PM it to me if you get the chance?

Pentaport's lineup is awful. I talked the promoters and the reason they aren't bringing bands like Spoon, Galactic, Bloc Party, Gogol Bordello, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, etc. is either they don't have a following in Korea(great avenue to start building one) or travel issues. The only way to build up a scene here is take a chance and bring bands in and poster the hell out of the city, or use cyworld, facebook or myspace, which pentaport finally did after I suggested it. But they put together a page last week, two weeks before the event. They also didn't take advantage of Korean bands like Golden Pops, The Rock Tigers, Cocore and a few others. And Travis as a headliner, are you phucking kidding me? I didn't realize that this was 2000. Sure Travis are alright, but in no way are they a headliner, especially 8 years after they released an album that actually mattered. The promoters pander to the masses here. Take a chance, Koreans actually do know a bit of the music that is out there. Strolll around Hongdae and start talking some up about what bands they like, you might be pleasantly surprised by their answers.

And if I sound bitter, I am. I helped with the first Pentaport. Trying to correct their English website(no changes made), helped with a few other shows they promoted, including Ozomatli. Ozomatli were supposed to be the first of many bands to come to Korea for a new brand that Yellow 9(promoters, they planned to bring Feist, and a few other smaller indie acts) were launching. Two weeks prior to the Ozomatli show they had sold 20 55,000 won tickets. A week out they decided to lower the price to 4,000won, then 1,000 won. So I looked like an arse, because I had to correct my posting several times. Luckily enough the wrod got out there and 300+ people showed up, nearly all were foreigners. Fun was had by all, the band played in the crowd and said it was one of the better shows they played(I didn't believe it), but the show was great. And I still haven't gotten paid, so yeah I'm bitter. They owe me a money, they ask me for suggestions, then steal some of my suggestions such as put a radio on the pentaport homepage, a myspace page, then make meetings with me, then cancel and don't even reschedule or get in touch with me at all after promising they will(3 different people promised). two o the three claimed they were too busy to respond. FOR THE LAST THREEE MONTHS??? Boooo!!!

For all going to Pentaport, have fun, because loads of fun can be had. I'd love to go, but the lineup is just too weak to bring me out. Plus I book a Sunday tripe to Thailand. Have fun. Sorry for the rant.

I agree about the line-up, it's pretty weak.

I would never pay that much money to go, I'm just going because it's free. Hopefully it will be fun.

Hey Gotte00

You deserve a lot of thanks for helping 'them' out, and trying to help them get the whole deal off the ground. The whole place sorely needs a good rock-out festival to look forward to every year. Obviously they're trying. Obviously at least someone amongst them realises they need more ideas and direction. It's a big pity they couldn't be honorable about their dealings with you with that regard, including at least following up on more of your efforts at suggestions.

On the positive side of things, I guess it's an achievement of sorts that the show has survived to whatever extent is has for the number of years it has. These things tend to take time to grow given a best-case scenario. Who knows what restrictions they're dealing with, particularly regarding funding. (I don't - perhaps you do - ?)

Anyway, it sounds fair that you feel bitter about it all. I just hope you don't have that bitterness for too long. There's other fun and good music to be found and enjoyed around the place (however hard we have to look for it in this glorious nation!) See you with the sounds.

Line up is just shite.

I've been to the two previous ones. The first one had the strokes, snow patrol, franz ferdinand and a few others it was great fun despite the weather.

Last year Chemical Brothers, Ash and Muse it was ok but was still good fun.

But this year is utter shite. The Go Team and maybe Kasabian are all I would like to see. It's such a pity as it is good fun.

Maybe next year.

Whats it like to get out of the place at the end of the night, I want to camp, but don't know if thats going to be possible. So just wondering if its a total nightmare to get back into Seoul after the fest and back in the next day?

I found it ok. Plenty of cabs that would bring me back to Ilsan. They all try to rip you off though. If they are charging too much it might be easier to get a cab to the subway station and then subway it home. They were plenty available though at all times.

Nice one for the info!

Is there much of a buzz on the campsite though, do you think that people who don't camp are missing out? Or is it just a place to sleep?

I don't know from there, but I think it's near the Incheon subway stop if you can hop in the subway.

I think it would be fun to camp there, it's a big part of it. I'm not a big fan of camping, but it's part of the experience.
