| Just wondering if anyone knows approximately how long it takes immigration to process paperwork for a long term (six months) visa extension. My school is late to the party and has just given me a new 6 month contract. I can turn all paperwork in to immi on the 1st, but then I leave on 9th for vacation. It's kind of hard to get in and out of countries without a passport, and I don't want it tied up in immigration. Just wonder how long this process has taken some of you. |

| If it is an extension of a current visa, it takes as long as the line up is at the immigration office, then another 5-10 minutes for them to write something on the back of your ARC, and input the info into the computer. You get the card back right away. Also, don't forget to apply for a re-entry visa, as yours will expire once your first visa expires, regardless of what country you are from. |
