Is anyone using an American/Canadian Wii in Korea and not having problems with the voltage difference? I'm wondering if I just used a small adaptor/adapter if it wouldn't just overheat more quickly?
I can't get the Korean one because all the instructions are in Korean, and then they've got that region specific thing I heard so I can't get the console here and games from back home. |

| Search "wii". You need a step down converter. |

Why not? I bought the Korean console, then just got it chipped. I can play any game I want. |

| You got it chipped? Does that mean it can then play English games? What exactly does it mean when you get it chipped? |

You get a modifying chip that allows you to burned games on your wii. These games can be downloaded or bought in Yongsan. You just need to make sure that the updating file is removed from the game so the it doesn't brick your wii, which means basically making your wii a paperweight.
I have a Japanese version, and use a voltage converter. I also have 20 burned games that all run perfectly. |

I can play any game, any language, any region whether bought, burned, or copied. Except for MarioKart. For some reason the chip doesn't like it. |

I have read on other forums that if you are not careful you can brick your wii. Have you had to update your wii at all? I am worried about putting in a disk that has the updates, then my wii becoming useless. Do you know anything about this? Should I be concerned? |

I would assume there are other games (with software packs) that you are unable to play as well. What about SSBB? |

| I thought about modifying my Xbox360, then I was told about how Microsoft can detect that the system has been modified if you're connected to the internet. Then the system will become useless. Don't want to take the risk. Sounds like the same thing for the Wii. I traded in my Wii for the 360 though. Once you get passed the novelty of the Wii, you'll realize how inferior it is to 360 and PS3. |

Ah, but I also have a PS to play, so that's irrelevant. |

Tell me about this, please. Doesn't the wii have an advantage of people actually working up a sweat while playing? Isn't the physical activity the whole point of the wii? I don't think the 360 or PS3 has anything like that.
As for the chipped wii, it sounds like the risk and the pay-off don't match. I think I'll get a western wii shipped over here. |

I've had the North American Wii in Korea for 1.5 years. I bought a game console step-down converter... it's small, heavy, quiet, orange, and cost about 20,000won. You can get it in the I-Park mall in Yongsan, I think the store is called 역사전자, which is on the main floor... the same shop that every vendor sends you to if you ask for different kinds of cables.
Has worked like a charm for years for my Wii and N64. |

I don't have SSBB, so I don't know. However, I would assume this is another one you can't play (under this first gen chip). If you desperately want to play MK and SSBB, then wait for the second gen chip which should fix the problem.

Simply don't update it, then. Get a new copy of the game with the update removed, or buy a legit copy. |
