I stayed there recently and found out about the stringent rules upon arrival. No eating, drinking, particularly alcohol, or guests are allowed. The rules thing that you have to sign upon check in says you agree to be kicked out without refund if caught eating, drinking, smoking, or having a guest in your room. The rules are not posted on their website so it's a bait and switch kind of thing if you're anticipating relaxing in your room with a 6 pack and some take out food. Luckily I was not kicked out as I snook my trash out each morning I was there. That's pretty bad when you pay $35 a night and you got to take your trash out to avoid getting kicked out for eating and drinking. I can understand that if staying in a dorm with others, there is a no eating and drinking rule, but these are single rooms.

The rooms are small shoeboxs with no fridge or coffee pot for 35,000 won. Couldn't you do better in a regular motel? I think so. While Seoul Backpackers is catering to tourists on short stay in Korea, it was very hard to locate the place in a small stinky alley where motor cycles present a dangerous situation to walk in. It took me 1 hour of walking and dodging motor cycles with all my luggage to find the place.

There was no free coffee and tea in the morning nor room safes as stated on their website.

Is this place in the Lonely Planet books? If so, contact them, and be sure to drop the hostel a line about your complaint.

25,000 won rooms in little Russia near Dongdaemun Stadium, exit 13, and no limits on the amounts of drinks, cigarettes and women you can bring in.
