|
|
I am planning my trip to Tokyo this week and one of the places I want to visit is Oedo Onsen Monogatari in Odaiba. I have been reading about it a little and it sounds like a great way to spend the afternoon. The one issue I've noticed is with tattoos and not being admitted.
Has anyone visited this place? How strict are they concerning tattoos? I have three, but would be willing to cover them up to be allowed in. Obviously, I will call them ahead of time when I am in Japan, but any first hand exprience would be welcoming.
Thanks,

I guess that they are trying to keep the Yakuza out. |

This is actually what I read. The goal of the rule is to keep the Onsen a family oreinted place. Do I look like I am with the Yakuza!?

Nah, forget Oedo onsen, it's pretty crap (way too many kids - it's more like a lame Edo-era theme park for families than an actual spa). Go to LaQua onsen at Shiodome (right beside Tokyo Dome), it's the same price and way better. Very nice facilities (for a little extra you can use the large sauna area on another floor, which are great), open all night, and no kids.
...but to answer your other question, if you have any tattoos you're not permitted to enter anywhere (has to do with keeping out yakuza). You might try your luck and go inside anyway, but you might get asked to leave if they notice you. |
