|

Does anyone know what the annual limit is for sending money home (back to the States)? My brother and father are going to help me get enough key money to get an apartment (about $30,000 - I know I could get a lesser apartment for less), but I'm a little concerned that when my wife and I leave next year that we will have trouble sending the money back to them (we will likely be leaving for China rather than going back to the States). Anyone know what to do/what would happen in this situation?
I tried to use the search function to find other threads on this issue, but it wasn't working.
Thanks in advance for any help. |

Unless you are living in the sticks and that 30,000 is cheonsae (sp??), why the hell would you put up 30 grand as a deposit?
Save yourself the hassle (if the 30 grand is a deposit) and get an apartment for much less.
Also over the period of a year, due to exchange rates, that 30 000 could shrink when it is exchanged back. Check the Canadian rates over the last year. I've lost thousands of dollars. |

Bigger deposit = smaller monthly rent. I've considered the other issues. Do you know the yearly limit?

No evidence of pay = 50,000,000
Over 50,000,000 = need evidence
THis is from my visit to KEB last week... with the KOrean wife, so nothing was "lost in translation". I hope. |

You're risking $30k for one year in an apartment? Are you crazy? |

It's standard operating procedure here. And it's not as if you are really risking anything, even if the owner blows your money by snorting coke off a hooker's ass, you'll still get your deposit when you move out because the owner will just give you the money from the next guy to move in.
(That said, there are other reasons to avoid paying cheonsae if you can.) |
