This weekend I was planning on going to Yongsan and picking up a Nintedo DS and an R4 chip.

Is the R4 really the best one to pick up? I have trouble believing my 4th grade class.

How much should I expect to pay?

Is there a better place to shop?

Where /how do I download games to my R4 chip?

Is it actually called an R4 chip?

The R4 is the older model.. I would recommend the TT instead (same basic concept though)...

The last time I was there (a couple months ago) they were going for about 220,000 (ds, TT card, 2gig mini SD card, protective case etc)

you can download lots of game from torrent sites.. then drag them into the right folder on the mini SD card

I got one for 200,000 in the underground tunnel with all the DS and PSP guys with protective case, R4 card, 2GB mini SD and the guy filled the card up with games for me. You should be able to get a similar price from any of the stalls in there, and maybe even do better, as I didn't shop around at all.

Do you have directions to this tunnel?

I'm not sure of the names of any of the buildings, but I'll do my best...

From Yongsan Station/IPark Mall you walk towards the back and take the covered walkway into the building with a few levels of computers and cameras. Think it's called the Terminal Market or something.

From there you have to go down a level, maybe to the second floor, and take another shorter walkway which leads to another building. There is a set of stairs past a shop selling random things like cables and adaptors. At the bottom there is a small DVD booth and a hotdog vendor. To your left should be two tunnels, one full of phone guys and one full of DS and PSP guys. To your right should be a road across which is the sidewalk lined by DVD shops and food vendors which leads to Sunin Plaza, the building full of computer parts - lots of HDDs RAM etc on tables out the front.

If you walk through the phone and DS tunnels you should be able to see a building called ELand with a large cylindrical design which is, as far as I know, the best place for cameras.

Sorry for the vagueness of the directions, hope you can find it.

Edited for crapness of original post

What's the difference? I used a supercard, and a passkey back in the days when I still owned a DS. I miss it and I'm thinking about getting another "for the kids."

R4 has a 2gb limit because it doesn't support the high capacity micro SD

Thanks for the directions I just picked one up. The only problem is all the menus are in Korean and I can't get the games to work. I click on the game icon and ti opens up a menu of games (in English) but I don't know what to do after that. I've tried randomly pressinig each button but nothing seems to work.

When you turn on the power it should give you a menu with three pictures/icons. Touch the one on the left and the game list should come up. Then scroll down to the game you want using the arrows and the name of the game should come up on the lower part of the screen. Select the game by touching the screen or pressing A and it should start.
