I'd like to move back to the US after completing my current contract, but I'm doubtful I'd want to if McCain wins. If the election is won due to rigging by the republicans, I could, but not if the majority of Americans turn out to be idiots.

Likewise, Korea is pretty good, but suffers the same issues with common sense and the whole image over substance nonsense.

So, how's the political landscape looking back in Canada?

The conservative party is no better.

The Praires go conservative, East coast Liberal. The only province in the whole country clearly divided in its opinion is B.C. where three parties took a significant number of seats in the last federal election.

The fact is Canada will continue to have minority governments as long as Ontario mistrusts the conservatives and Quebec votes for the Bloc.

It's the Liberal Party retards who hate minority governments the most; they are the best thing about Canadian politics, apart from the Bloc.

It doesn't seem to be easy for American citizens to just move up to Canada unless they have lots of money and a business thing going on. Canada doesn't offer jobs to foreigners like the USA does. You'd probably be better off going to the USA instead if American to retrain into a new career such as a skilled trade. I debating what I want to do as I do not want to be a teacher and do not want to spend my life in Asia. It is true that things are looking for the worse when it comes to the economy and job market back home so I'm not sure how that's going to play out for us when we repatriate.

I am from BC. Not the Prairies. I'm not exactly enarmoured with the conservatives either. But the liberals do suck and Chretien was a horrible Prime Minister. Maybe not horrible but fairly bad. Any party the lets Hedy Fry (was that her name) become the minister of anything needs to have their heads examined.

Some awesome commentary here guys. Looks like the Canadian taxpayer got good value in subsidizing all of your liberal arts educations.

Being almost entirely unfamiliar with Canada's immigration laws, nevertheless I'm willing to gamble than an American will have an easier time with it in Canada than almost any other nationality has getting a job in the USA.

You have to realize that NAFTA makes it a lot easier on Canadians coming to the US and vice versa than it normally would be. Canadians, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't a) being a native English speaker and b) having a degree from an American university really give you a lot of points in the Canadian immigration system?

There is a TN visa for professionals of certain job types. A liberal arts degree + ESL experience doesn't cut it.
