I was always under the impression that self defense here was not a factor in assault cases. This says otherwise.

Dog meat and prostitution are illegal here.
The rule and what actually happens in Korea are frequently two different things. Traditionally whoever gets the worse damage is the innocent one and whoever does the damage is guilty.
I would say the average foreigner is stronger than most Korean men. Maybe it is just me but whenever I lift the Korean men don't come close. I know that sounds racist but it isn't the rule.
So when we foreigners, who are not used to the drama associated with Korean confrontations.... punch or kick the crap out of the drunk guy who pushed us or threatened us tend to do the most damage.
That and the surrounding Koreans band together to make sure we are the guilty part.
Just don't fight in Korea. Or if you do. Leave. Run. Even if you are in the right, you will be found to be in the wrong. |

If a drunk Korean though enters your home. We then kill or injure him. I bet we would be found at fault.
Being from Texas, it's okay to kill them. Drunk or not. Heck, they passed a law in Texas saying you can use lethal force on someone stealing your property. So if you see someone breaking into your car you can plug em' even though they are putting you in danger. |

So the clerk at 711 can open fire on a kid stealing a pack of gum?
Great idea, that! |
