| Does anyone have experience with the Hyundai car audio systems? I just got my second Hyundai, and just like the first one, the car stereo claims to play MP3/WAV/AAC discs, but my luck is spotty. I've started to do some experiments, and have finally been able to make an MP3 disc that the system can play. I think it has to do with the sampling/bit rate, but I'm not quite clear. Any tips would be helpful. This time around, I do have a manual for the audio system, and there seems to be some detailed information on the making of CDs, but all in Korean of course. |

Well, never mind. I think it's working just fine. The failure I experienced turns out to have been a bad CD (I can't even read it on my computer). The car stereo plays an MP3 CD-R, and can display sond data in English or Korean (my Korean friends high-end car stereo can only display English). I briefly made a WAV and AAC discs - they worked, but I didn't do a lot of experiments with them.
The stereo's display isn't very wide, but there are two lines. It shows the folder name on the top line, and the song filename on the bottom line. The MP3 player sofware I use (MediaMonkey) lets me easily specify the CD burning file/folder structure. In the case of a normal albums, I can put the folder name <artist><albumname>, and the song filenames <trackno><title>.
Now, if only the CD player really held 6 discs like the manual says... unfortunately I'm guessing that's an option one had to pay extra for. It made some scary noise when I tried to put a second CD in while the first CD was already playing! |
