|
|
This is not exactly Korea specific, but a lot of people here probably use skype like me.
I have my stereo connected to an output jack of my computer, and in the Windows Audio I/O panel this output is called "Line Out".
I have my headphones connected to a front panel output jack, and in the windows Audio I/O panel this output is called "headphone".
The problem is that in this arrangement all output, i.e. Itunes, will come out of the headphones. So I have to unplug the headphone (or change output designation to something irrational like "line in") in order to listen to music through my stereo. Then when someone calls on skype, their voice comes over the stereo until I plug back in the headphone.
Is there anyway to get music to play over the speakers (Line out) and skype to play over the headphones?
Thanks, |

Short answer: no.
Longer answer:
Your sound card may have multiple outputs, but Windows sees it as a single sound device.
You can tell different applications to use a particular sound device for input and output, but you can't designate different outputs on the same device.
To do what you're describing (Skype output to headphones, other stuff to stereo), you'll need another sound card (a USB dongle will do), a set of USB headphones, or a Bluetooth headset (if your computer has Bluetooth). In short, you need something that Windows will recognize as a different sound device. Then you'll be able to go into Skype's options and designate that device as the output device. Everything else will output to whatever sound device is set as the Windows default. |

Thanks,
I do have some Bluetooth headphones, for use with my laptop. Maybe I'll buy a bluetooth USB dongle for my desktop and try it that way.
Thanks again, |
