There is probably a thread about sending mail somewhere here...but I couldn't find it and I guess this question is geared towards any Canadians here.

What is the best/cheapest way to send something(digital camera) to Canada from here?

They have these buildings all over the civilized world (maybe Canada too) called " the post office".
Believe it or not, they've been around for hundreds of years!
It's a place to send pieces of paper with ink (sometimes called "letters") to other people, who aren't physically close to you (i.e.,a person who lives in Korea, and person who lives in Canada).
You can also send boxes with anything (legal) in them. Even a digital camera!
If it's expensive, try asking for insurance.

Good News!!!
They have these amazing "post offices" in South Korea! Type "post office" into google translation, and you get "우체국".
If you want to attempt to talk to one of the strange, non-Canadian folk here (Koreans) you can say "u-chae-guk".
Look for the "우체국" sign, walk in and, simply hand them a few pieces of green, red, and blue paper (called 원 aka, won, something you use to buy goods and services here on the Korean peninsula) and... viola!!! They will deliver the package to your snowy homeland!
Good luck on your quest. Hopefully your snow-loving comrade will be taking pictures quicker than you can say, eh?

I obviously know a post office is an option, but I'm asking for other cheaper options.

There is nothing cheaper than the post office.

Their EMS service is equal to any of the courier services for about 1/2 the price.

Air parcel or small packet are also options. You can read the choices from the posters on the wall. 10-25k won (depending on the weight of your camera). Trackable and traceable (via the internet) with notifications by SMS (text messages) at each point along the way.

.

This thread is amusing on all kinds of levels.

These 'post offices' as you call them do sound truly magical.

The real question is: "HOW" does the mail actually move to another country? These "POST OFFIECES" that you speak of are buildings. So HOW does the mail actually get across the ocean. Are we to believe that these buildings up root themselves and transport the mail?

To stimulate their failing economy after the bust in the 90's, the Korea government created an entire industry for people wishing to row boats across the vast ocean and into the Americans carrying gold, silks, spices, and yes - even mail! These jobs are hard, dirty, and pay worse than a level H SMOE job, but millions of men, women, and children have signed on in hopes of earning what little they can, as well as visiting the far away land America the Great.

To answer your question then....
Once a month when the moon is at its fullest a ship filled with these rowers leave port singing of those who have gone before them, as is the tradition. Rowing to a beat tapped upon a large Kim-chi pot they stroke in unison into the great waters to the East. Pulling together they make the three month trek across the dangerious ocean until, exhausted from working around the clock, they make landfall somewhere between Vancouver and the Southern tip of South America. The goods are then sold to local markets at small profits, while the mail is loaded onto a plane and flown to your local postal office within about two business days. It is then loaded onto a truck and hand delievered to you...

Well I hope they are more efficient at getting mail out than in. I don't get about a third of mail/parcels sent to me from abroad.
