Why would limewire suddenly stop screening new searches??? It goes through the motions but resolutely declines to dsplay what is asked for.

I don't recall updating it.

It has served me quite well, so I'm not going to now start complaining, but if you kindly suggest a worthy successor I'll be grateful.

torrents

install utorrent

http://www.download.com/uTorrent/3000-2196_4-10528327.html?tag=lst-1&cdlPid=10804582

search on these pages,

movies/apps/ebooks

http://www.mininova.org/
http://thepiratebay.org/
http://www.rlslog.net/ (you will need winrar to open extract the movies first)

music (I don't download music so don't know the good ones)
http://thepiratebay.org/music

New tv shows

http://eztv.it/frontpage.php

hit the seeds button (se on piratebay) at the top of the list of movies. Click the one with the most seeds, read the reviews/comments (don't be put off by one or two bad comments, some people are stupid).

then hit the download button, the option will come up open/save to disk/cancel. Choose open. (make sure you click the always for this file type option first.

utorrent should open, hit okay, wait for however long (between 10 min to 10hrs for the movie to download, average 1hr depending on how many seeds).

It probably sounds complicated but really it is very easy.

If you are using internet explorer, stop, use firefox/opera (if you use opera there will be another step before you can use torrents).

if you need help ask here. I think there are one or two people using torrents here, could be wrong Laughing

Thank you for the effort of that comprehensive reply. I have to keep reading that sentence about that it sounds complicated but is really quite easy in order to stay in the hunt.

I'm convinced that I use internet explorer, would I be right in saying that Firefox is not in my PC?? What happens if I introduce it to my pc, would it kill the explorer off.

I've got a feeling that I'm going to end up telling you that I'll give it a shot, but secretly do nothing. Or at least procrastinate to hell and gone.

I wonder if I should scout about for a fellow waygukin in my town who does this stuff and ask him to come and install it for me.

I have to confess, I didn't write this for you, I grabbed it from an email that I sent to my mum when she asked how to download movies Embarassed Laughing

If you want firefox (not need but useful and safer)

http://www.download.com/mozilla-firefox/?tag=lst-3&cdlPid=10865521

it won't remove internet explorer.

I can make it easier (sent this one to one of my mums friends Laughing )

step 1: download utorrent

http://www.download.com/uTorrent/3000-2196_4-10528327.html?tag=lst-1&cdlPid=10804582

install (select language). everything else should be fine

Step 2: choose what to download eg "be kind rewind"

search on one of these sites
http://www.mininova.org/
http://thepiratebay.org/
http://www.rlslog.net/

hit the seed button

eg http://thepiratebay.org/search/Be.Kind.Rewind/0/7/0

select which one you want (top one is normally best)
read comments if you want (axxo is normally safe)
Hit download
firefox will ask you to open save or cancel select open

Step 3: when utorrent opens click download

wait for it to finish

torrents are a bit more complicated but completely worthwhile. updated internet explorer is fine for basic use. google firefox addons and if there are any that interest you. if not stick with ie. read about adblock and foxmarks (addons for firefox).

You can have infinite number of browsers but each one will ask you to make it your default. if you set firefox as default for example, clicking any link will open firefox, not ie anymore, unless you change it. safari, and opera are other browsers you can try. be sure to disable third party cookies in the options
