I've exhausted all my camp ideas in the first two days because of the chemistry in both the classrooms. I was told that the students would be all high level, which is only half true. One class is extremely low level (can't speak or form sentences), and the other is quite high (one student in that class is fluent).

Anyway, today I had one class create a theme park with coloured pencils, an advertisement for the theme park and a group description of the park with the park's rules, etc. The second (high level) class played a survivor game where they wrote what they'd do if they were trapped on a desert island, and what five things they would need the most.

Both classes went kind of well, but I don't think either went nearly as smoothly as I wanted them to. The thing is, every student who registered is a girl and this wasn't something I counted on. I had quite a few boys on day one, but they seem to have been replaced by girls today. I think that's the reason the survivor game didn't go over well and why some lesson plans I thought would be awesome are sinking rather than swimming.

Does anyone have any ideas for a High School 'girl's only' camp class?

The olympics are a real winner/teachable moment. Play the BAAM game on Olympic sports or just the Olympic sports ppt/presentation. Try bingo and worksheets on the Olympics. http://eflclassroom.ning.com/wpage/olympics

Teach other subjects, like math, in English. Translated vocab is a big plus here, but not necessary.

I make my students do random chores for me, like gluing broken lamps and washing my shoes. Candy is a big motivator here, but not necessary.
