I need to go to Uijeongbu tomorrow. This is Immigration - supposedly near Ilsan.
Any directions would help. |
It's within 5 minutes' walk of Uijeongbu subway station (line 1).
Go out exit 2 - after descending the stairs you'll be under a green awning. Walk left so that you'll be on the left side of the street that emerges from the tunnel under the station.
When you get to the corner, turn left. If you look to your right as you stand on this corner, there's a Dunkin Donuts on the opposite side.
After you round the corner, the immigration office is less than 100 meters ahead on your left.
This page includes a little map with the location marked:

No... it's in Uijeongbu.
The Uijeongbu Immigration Office has jurisdiction over the northern part of Gyeonggi province, including Ilsan. |

Where do you live. Unless you live in Paju, or Hwajeong, Uijeongbu is probably the best way to go. Although a pain in the butt to get to by Subway.
Otherwise, on a Wednesday go to Daehwa station (The very last stop on Line 3, orange line). Get in a taxi and say KINTEX. It's very close from there. If you want to walk the easiest way to explain it is walk towards the big soccer stadium and turn left at the intersection right before the stadium.
Keep on walking and KINTEX will be on the left side at the next intersection.
The immigration desk is on the far right side of the building if you go in the main entrance that faces a giant parking lot. |

THank you very much. Is this in Ilsan? That is the jurisdiction I need.
Apparently this is the office |
This is Korea. There is no immigration office near Ilsan. We said that there is one temporary one open on Wednesdays. The Uijeongbu Office is near the Uijeongbu Station, and it is quite far by subway from Ilsan.
It is all the wall on the other side north on the subway from Ilsan.
Ilsan is basically northwest of Seoul and Uijeongbu is northeast of Seoul up on the metro map. You have to ask around when you get out of the subway station where it is. You can miss it. It took me about 2 hours by subway to go from Ilsan to Uijeongbu when I once made the trip.
When you go out the metro station walk forward on the left side and keep looking on your left for a sign for the immigration office. |

or you can just take an airport bus from Ilsan to Uijeongbu; much faster. |

If you go to the "Immigration desk" that is set up once a week at Kintex, you may have to wait until they get back to the main office in order for them to file your paperwork. Also, you may not be able to get your stuff until they return to Kintex in a week.
If you are pushed for time, you need to go to the main office at Uijeongbu. |
