Advertisements promoting Japanese condoms have been removed from Korean underground trains amid a rekindled territorial dispute. |
Wow, that's taking rabid nationalism to a whole new level. |

I like the fact that they just didn't throw eggs at the Japanese embassy, they threw rotten eggs. That's dedication. |

I think it's incredibly stupid, immature, idiotic and downright rude.
obviously it was a corporate advertising firm that offered money to the transit agency to advertise - if anyone should be blamed, it's KOREA'S OWN GOVERNMENT for accepting the money from a Japanese company!!
but do they ever think of that?
I mean honestly - what's the Jp Embassy got to do with condoms being advertised??

It's just symbolic that Korea hates Japan and always will due to previous invasions and theft. Dokdo is just an unfriendly gesture to antagonize Japan, not that the islands are really much like they're saying they are. How much economic importance do these rocks sitting half way to Japan have? Korea wants revenge for the invasions knowing it can happen again since it's happened many times and show who's boss. In the technology age, it's possible for a tiny country like Korea to become a super power that can kick some ass and that's what Korea intends to do someday as it is said to have the largest military spending in the world which means it's developing forces and has big plans to be bad ass. Of course, we have nothing to worry about right now as both countries have too many economic interests to have a war, but someday it's inevitable. |

...uh, what? You're kidding right? Korea's military spending is just about half of Japan's (or do you mean per capita, in which case, still so what?). Korea is a gnat compared to Japan, and will never, ever be anything even close to a superpower. Korea (either half) will never even be a regional power. There's just no way in hell.
Obviously SK is only bluffing and rattling its sabre, but all it's going to take is a more assertive Japan, likely in the not too distant future (someone like Ishihara coming along for example) to stop them in their tracks. It's amazing they've gotten away with it for this long with no consequences. Anyway, if Korea ever seriously came to blows with Japan, it'd get swatted down like a fly. Sweet humiliation. |

If 2MB really wants to recover some support from his populace he really should consider proclaiming 2008 as the Korean Year of Hate~ 화이팅! ^-^.
We're only halfway through the year and its off to a promising start so far with an all too brief period of teeth-gnashing against Chinese protesters in Seoul, a long slimmering round of protests over US Beef, and the current latest installment of uber-wacky egg-throwing Dokdo protests. We just need a GI to do something stupid in a drunken rage and an English teacher to act like a drunken Korean man to get this year really going ... |

I think a Japanese entertainer should buy a full-page ad in the NYT stating that under the Japanese occupation life expectancy in Korea increased from 25 to 43 years. |

I agree. They are just two rocks. Let the international water boundaries come into effect then. |

They don't use condoms anyway. It's kind of funny -- lets take away Japanese condoms so we can spread AIDS and more of us can die.
That'll show those Japanese! |

But the funny thing is there had to be planning. Hang chon shows up with a bunch of eggs. Hyon son says " Okay, these are eggs, but they're not rotten. Dude. What up with that?"
Hyun-U says "Leave them outside for 2 weeks and *then* we attack*" |

Bad ass and Korea do not go together. Being a superpower requires a more "wordly" view and involvement on matters. Korea is too inwardly focused to ever be one. Throw in the fact that it is a tiny country surrounded by 2 powerhouses and it just isn't going to happen. Besides, this is the 21st century, who's Korean going to punch in the mouth militarily? Laos? Cambodia? Korea can start making proclamations of a bad ass military when they stop depending on the USA to back them up. |

Haven't you heard? STDs are just like homosexuality. They don't exist in Korea. |

There are a lot of things that don't exist here. Yet strangely enough they exist almost everywhere else.
Pillage and plunder. |
