Hi,

If you are sending a normal letter from within Seoul to another Seoul address, does the address have to be written in Hangul or is it OK to use English, roman script?

Also, is it true that the post offices are open til 6pm?

Thanks!

I suspect given the fact that letters from overseas can successfully be delivered with an address written in English that it will be delivered with an English address. I have got quite a few since I have been here.

What I have heard in the past is that a letter/parcel with a hangul address will be delivered faster.

If you do write the English address then make sure you include all of the things which are included in the Korean address.

Another good idea is to include the phone number (if you can) at the delivery address so if necessary they can ring for directions/explanation.

I would personally use the hangul address if I knew it and only use the English address if I didn't.

As long as you print clearly, you will have no problems. The post office workers are able to read the Roman alphabet competently.
