(I've taken out the four letter word that was printed in the original news story.)

I'm getting a little tired of Koreans and others posting here on Dave's who turn any thread that has any critical comments about Korea into a forum on Iraq.

Enough already. You wanna talk about Iraq, here's your forum. Talk your little ol' hearts out.

I'll get you started.

Anyone see Doonesbury today?

http://www.doonesbury.com/strip/dailydose/

See the "Say what?" item?

I'll help you:
Quote:

SAY WHAT?

"F*****g stupid."
-- David Kilcullen, advisor to Condoleezza Rice, on the decision to invade Iraq

If I might be allowed to editorialize for a moment, no s**t, Sherlock!

Here's where the quote came from:

Quote:
Asked for comment, the handbook's chief author, David Kilcullen, a former Australian Army officer who is now an adviser to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, explained that it tells policy-makers to "think very, very carefully before intervening." More bluntly, Kilcullen, who helped Petraeus design his 2007 counterinsurgency strategy in Iraq, called the decision to invade Iraq "stupid" -- in fact, he said "f***** stupid" -- and suggested that if policy-makers apply the manual's lessons, similar wars can be avoided in the future.

"The biggest stupid idea," Kilcullen said, "was to invade Iraq in the first place."

About the only people left who don't think something went dreadfully wrong with the U.S. intervention in Iraq are George Bush and John McCain, and I assume some Republican stalwarts.

Just about every other American realizes this.

But apparently this is still news to people who do not live in the U.S. or at least do not read the news from the U.S. in English.

These foreigners do not understand recent history, as in events seven years ago, which to some posters is already ancient history.

As just about every American knows, the U.S. was attacked by terrorists in September 2001. When a catastrophe like this happens in the U.S., Americans rally behind their president, regardless of party affiliation -- unlike some other countries I can think of.

George Bush took advantage of this situation and lied to the American people, to Congress, and even to people in his administration, such as former Secretary of State Colin Powell and his former press secretary and longtime friend, Scott McClellan. People, during a crisis, took the president at his word. This is not the biggest sin in the world, though in hindsight it was a mistake.

I should add that I opposed going into Iraq, and like many Americans, I wrote my representatives in Washington urging them to oppose the war resolution.

Most Americans no longer support the war in Iraq. But they are divided on the best course to take now. This is not Vietnam. It is not clear that simply withdrawing all military troops would be in the best interests of Iraq; maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but there is reasonable disagreement on this question.

Now, if you want to go and rant about because America should not have gone into Iraq, no American has the right to ever criticize any other country, especially Korea, in any way, go right ahead. Be my guest.

Heck, if you go ahead and rant without even reading this post, you are perfectly welcome to do so. Get it out of your system. You don't even have to be the least bit coherent or rational. You can even plagiarize your own posts from other threads. This, apparently, is not uncommon.

Tell me what a horrible country the United States is, and how every American should keep his trap shut.

Go ahead. Make my day!

What a waste. All that typing.... for nothing.

A bad attempt at a troll. If dave's has any credibility at all, this thread will die on the first page as it deserves to.

Do you use one of those serrated spoons for your grapefruit? What do you do with the other half?

The mogi man just drove by. This year he comes every morning about this time. A few minutes of fumes and then the rest of the day is mogi-free. I love it. But good thing I'm an early bird--that guy's noisy.

Funny you should mention that. I got one of those lemon-powered clocks for my birthday, and I've been using the other half of the grapefruit to power the clock.

I just got back from Jirisan. Off to Chiaksan tomorrow. I hate Americans and I'm as American as you can get. I hate everybody though. My mom is German so maybe I'm half American. I also hate grapefruit and eggs.

Although I'm expecting a book to come in our lifetime titled "War in Iraq and On the Payroll to Enforce the Propoganda".

Don't you hate all of this rain? It's raining again. Ugh. When it rains back home, it usually drops in temperature at the same time.

Not here.

Your thoughts?

Any thoughts on the Atkins diet? With a Costco membership, I think it's doable.

I put the yolks down the drain. I tried putting them in the garbage bag but they drained through a little hole and all over the floor. It was tragic.

My girlfriend thinks putting them into the sink is just disgusting.

I know it's a waste of perfectly good cholesterol, but other than deep-frying them, I can't think of any use for them.
