I vote for those South Africans who insist on sitting around speaking to each other only in Afrikaans all the time

That's not true about canadians, from my experience anyway. I've found them to be the most friendly....and No, i'm not Canadian myself.

OP, can you add? "None, they all have friendlies and assholes alike." I've met both friendly and unfriendly people from all 7 of the English teacher countries. I really can't say which is better as they all display the general characteristics of being humans, but I have noticed that there is a huge separation between many foreigners in Korea for unknown reasons. Maybe some sort of phobias are in the air. I don't quite understand what the deal is with so many anti-social foreigners in Korea.

I learned that it's just best to go to a small town as I have already made more foreign friends than I did in a large city of 500,000 people where there are 400 foreigners. I didn't have any friends last year what so ever other than a Korean. There are 8 foreigners in my small town and 4 are really cool guys. I've actually made friendship with one and we're going to travel to South Asia next month together. There are 400 foreigners in the city I used to teach in and none were cool guys in the line of wanting to be buddies, hanging out, and chatting about it all.

It doesn't matter what nationality, but it matters on the personality and situation when it comes to our relations with other foreigners.

I second sojourner's post.

I always find it amazing that in a country of 2% foreigners, and Westerners being just a sample of that 2%, we don't stick together very well. Oh well, infantile minds rule the world, don't they?

Yeah. I met some Canadians that were awesome, and some that were assholes. I tend to love the Irish a lot. I haven't made friends with too many fellow Americans, but we can be jerks too. Met a few Brits, they were fun or annoying. I didn't meet a Kiwi yet or an Aussie. Met one South African in France, and while he was cool he was crazy! My point: everyone can be an @##$% or a gem. But I do feel sad that the Canadians got the worst vote! I wonder why that is?

Canadians are the unfriendliest. I know I am one of them.

Ausies are the most confrontational

Yanks lack any sense of humor.

Ain't been much of a bashing as of yet. If you're that sensitive just wait till we start making fun of your accents.

Me!

No, I don't want to nod or say hello to you.
