Can anyone comment on their own or their friends experiences working at one of these after school programs?
It seems like the wage per hour works out much higher than it would at a hagwon.
I know they're a little sketchy because they are part time and don't usually have benefits. I'd like to hear some people's opinions on this matter before I make a hasty decision. |

I would also like to know about this as well.
Also, given I have an F-2 Visa, does that make an after school program less risky for me? After school programs have small hours, which would give me enough time to work another part time job. I'm fairly new on an F-2, and after schools + part time seem like the easiest way to up my monthly earnings fairly quick.
thanks,

I haven't worked one but I've known a number of people, both foreigners and Koreans, who have. Experiences do range from great to pretty lousy. The problem seems to be that the schools deal with private companies that organise the teaching and allotment of teachers. This means an additional layer of management to make things unnecessarily difficult or corrupt. Problems with bank accounts and benefits are very common.
That said, I have heard a few teachers describe it as 'full-time pay for part-time hours', and not the most difficult teaching post one could if elementary students are your cup of tea. |
