Yep here we go again, another piece of Korean investigative journalism. This time the program is called Video Journalist.

Shocking!, can you believe this but there are Russian women working here as hookers in room salons! A cop asks a 'hostesses' what type of visa she has, she says entertainment, so then he asks her to sing. The singing was not that good.
Now what percentage of room salon girls would be represented by Russians?
How often are Korean room salon girls busted?

They were also having a go at Russian and Chinese sailors for smuggling, yet go to any market and you can see heaps of Koreans selling smuggled and counterfeit goods, in the open! Why are these people not being busted?

Then of course we had to have the shots of the whitey male walking down the street with an Asian girl. It seems this too is a crime.

Finally we had to have the English teacher. This time it was a Swedish dude. Now the matter hasn't gone to court yet, HOWEVER the Korean media is allowed to film this guy INSIDE the police station (blurred of course).
The Korean police have no respect for anyones rights. It's incredible they allow filming of SUSPECTS (innocent UNTIL proven guilty) inside a police station.

Is innocent until proven guilty enshrined in Korean law like it is in the West? Is it documented at all?

Also, if they blur his face, then they are protecting his identity.

But yeah, pretty ridiculous stuff.

No. And judjing (EDIT: judging, dammit, judging!) by the way the media, police and courts act, the opposite seems to be true.

I saw that video yesterday.

I couldn't understand everything, but what was the point of showing a Western male at one point walking down the street with a Korean female and another point where a Western male was entering a taxi with another Korean female?

Someone should offer up a reward for anyone assaulting a Korean journo and capturing the moment on video.

Joking.

Another good reason not to learn korean. Do you really want to talk to people like those who made this thing or those who watch it?

That was VJ특공대 on KBS. I was pretty disappointed to see today's show because usually I really like that program. Each show has four 15-minute segments shot by independent VJs, and it's often very interesting, showing a different side of Korea, or at least something very cool. The English teacher coverage was lame and offensive.

Same logic as this
Quote:
Koreans are so predatory and nationalistic. They have a closed economy and a zero-sum attitude to trade. Protectionism in the early stages of an economy is not unreasonable. But in the case of Korea it is almost a religious doctrine to keep foreign things out. If you buy a foreign car, you're seen as a traitor. They pick narrow industrial sectors and all jump in like copycats. If I see a Korean sports team, I root for the other side. Why? Because they're so full of themselves that they leave no room for other parties to participate and enjoy themselves. The 1988 Olympics was worse than the Hitler Games of 1936. Dealing with Koreans is like dealing with bright adolescents. They're full of energy and want to do everything yesterday. But they throw tantrums and are prone to dangerous and erratic behaviour if their whims are not indulged. In most countries, intellectuals become universal. You learn that great ideas and values have no national boundaries. What is profoundly disturbing is that Korean intellectuals become more xenophobic and nationalistic, and perpetuate the idea that all of Korea's problems are the result of wilfulness by foreigners. This is the mark of a scoundrel.

The presumption of innocence is found in Article 27(4) of the constitution of Korea, which reads

Quote:
The accused shall be presumed innocent until a judgment of guilt has been pronounced.
