Does anyone have any experience dealing with the Korean embassy here in Bangkok with regards to this? They were not too helpful when I called them about it before, so I thought I would post about it. What I am reading online is conflicting with what they told me. That being said, I read mostly about the Philippines with regards to this particular visa. Some other things I read are that they can be a bit off at the embassy here. |

All of your friends working in Korea couldn't help you with this? |

I have asked the person I know in Korea for his advice already. However, he had no direct experience with the F3 visa. His friend offered him some advice, but also there was no direct experience with this visa (ie. not married). Why not contribute something more meaningful to the discussion instead of asking random questions about me and who I know? |

Here is your quote:
"I have friends working in Korea. I don't rely on the whims of posters on this board to make my decisions. Instead, I rely on people I actually know."
Good luck! |

Indeed, I recall my own words. I take the information given here with a grain of salt. Nonetheless, it can be useful to obtain first hand accounts of people who have been through the process. They are not readily available. I really don't know anyone who is married to a Thai national and has attempted to bring their spouse on an F3 visa from Bangkok. Girlfriends ... yes. Wives ... no. Like I said, the embassy here isn't the most helpful group of people around. |

Does she have an F3 visa that was obtained in Bangkok by any chance? |

Fantastic! You have me email address, so I am hurt that I could not even get the title of acquaintance. Did you obtain the visa at the same time that you obtained your E2 visa? What documents were required for her? I would imagine that a translated marriage certificate, application, photos, my contract, and money should be all that is needed. However, some reports I have read have stated that some embassies want a copy of your ARC (which I do not have) first. Any thoughts on this at the Bkk embassy? |

Got it at the same time. just tell them that u want her attached to ur visa. They usually want a translated marriage cert but they let me slide on that and just made a copy of my Thai one. |

Thank you! This sets my mind at ease a bit. I will try soon. Did they want the fancy one (marriage cert.) or the normal one? Did they want anything from your embassy (an affidavit stating that you are in fact married)? I can get the translation done for free from a friend, but I would rather not. |

I didn't know there were two types of marriage certs. Better have the translation done as they usually require it. Nothing from my embassy was required. |

Losing_touch, I'm sure that I've seen a detailed & informative discussion on this topic in another daves thread.
Might be best to simply do a search for it.
Or maybe Spliff has that URL?
Good luck! |

So, I just got off the phone with the embassy here in Bangkok. The person I spoke with claimed that I would need an ARC first. She said they could not issue the visa on the strength of the contract alone. I asked if I could convert a tourist visa into an F-3 status in Korea. She said that I would need to contact immigration in Korea and she didn't know. This is seriously frustrating.
Other Documents Required:
-passport photo
-application
-translated and notarized marriage certificate
-copy of my passport
-copy of ARC
-copy of contract |

May I suggest leaving that Embassy out of it. Deal immediately with Immi in Korea.
Embassies are there for Koreans, not for immigration issues. Anyway that is how they see it. |
