hello,
have you lived there or are you from there? wife and I are looking for a place to settle, and that sounds good. I'm a yank, she's kiwi and its close to her parents, looks like the west coast of the south island, a bit, and is beautiful. but jobs seem scarce. we do teaching, organic farming, and pottery.
anyone have any advice or other? especially around clallam bay area or further west on Hwy 101 down to abderdeen areas. port angeles and pudget sound are too expensive. we want 20-40 acres.
thanks. |

Sorry, can't help you: I've never been, and I have no info.
However, I'm in Victoria, BC (across from Port Angeles), and I've been meaning to take the ferry (walkon passenger = $11/1-way. And about 1 - 1 1/2 hrs?) to P/Angeles. I hear that taking a city bus on arrival to Hurricane Mountain (or Hurricane something or other ) is worth it: a lovely evironment of snow-capped mountains.
Must say that those mountains across the water from Victoria provide a beautiful sight when walking on our Dallas Road.
And you've given me a thought to look in to: what about my living/retiring in or near to Port Angeles? Victoria is very expensive (half a million Cdn $ for a 3-bedroom detached); might P/Angeles be significantly cheaper? |
