There are way too many events in the Olympics and some of them have got to go. Now, I'm not just being selfish and asking to get rid of events I don't watch. I'd never watch soccer, track, gymnastics, or marathon stuff, but you can't get rid of those.

However, there are some completely retarded events. For starters, we have to lose anything in which the athletes can be fat. If you're fat, you're not a real Olympian.

Goodbye to: archery and shooting

I wouldn't argue these are easy activities, but come on, too many fat people involved.

Gymnastics (both rythmic and the other variety), Diving and synchronised swimming should never darken the sporting doorstep again.

There's talk of eliminating a whole bunch by 2020, including taekwondo:

I'm of the opposite opinion on this one..
its called the modern olympics, so lets move with the time..
get rid of archery and fencing for sure..
more team sports, maybe cricket and rugby for the aussies to win more medals
but I'd love to see x games make moves into the olympics
just hope ballroom dancing(sports dance) dont get their way in

There goes my dream of seeing Sumo in the Olympics. Crying or Very sad

I mean, if they can allow Taekwondo, surely they can allow Sumo.

The shooting with that doesn't even have bullets but some kind of laser rubbish that shows you with an x ON A COMPUTER SCREEN where you pointed your non-gun. This is just video games but standing up. The Greeks would be aghast...

These "sports" should be considered for elimination.

there should be more extreme sports in the olympics. At some stage there will have to be if the olympics wants to remain popular.

Weightlifting, classic olympic sport, so it stays. Water Polo has been around a while, so ditto. Table Tennis and Badminton are huge in Asia, so I say they should amongst the first included. Sailing, I'll have to claim Aussie bias here and say since we win a lot of medals there, I would like to see it stay. Equestrian and Beach Volleyball, I am ho hum about, the latter being good only for the perve factor. Canoe/Kayak, maybe, but the ones you have highlighted that I think should go especially would be Synchro, BMX and Trampoline.

Weightlifting should be gone because it's steroid filled sport..what do you really accomplish by lifting heavy weights other than a gold medal.

Waterpolo is a very niche sport like baseball, so it should be eliminated, same can be said about sailing...maybe even more. Add beach volleyball.

Table Tennis and Badminton make several people fall asleep, heh.

Equestrian...what skill is there? All they are doing...is waiting for the right time to tell the horse to jump...wow such skill...they might as well add horse racing. I wonder if they check the horses for steroids..because steroids are rampant in horse racing.

Canoe/Kayak...I know there is a lot of skill needed..but really why have it?

I only watch a few, soccer, just to see what Brazilians, Argentinians will dominate come the next world cup, swimming because for some reason it fascinates me and long distance running(1500 and over)..when they 'kick' at the end there is something beautiful about it. The rest can go.
