|
|
I am truly happy to hear GEPIK has increased vacation time in their contracts from September onwards, from 14 to 20 working days. I trust it is true and hope it will stay that way.
This means I will no longer apply for SMOE, because all I ever really wanted was more vacation time. 4 + 2 = 6 weeks total vacation time if you renew at the same school, excluding national holidays.
Yes, I agree GEPIK has some issues to contend with, namely nasty co-teachers.
I'd also advise myself and my fellow GEPIKers to have a little patience. I am currently on vacation from my school and I am confident once I return to school, I will feel refreshed enough to start work.
I do regular exercise but prior to my vacation I was beginning to feel really tired each day after work. I really needed a break.
My advice is focus on what is positive, do what you need to do to get paid, and think carefully about the benefits working with GEPIK provides, as opposed to working in a job which is practically worse.
All the best! |

I'm sure it would be nice to have more support from GEPIK with those nasty co-teachers. |

fromtheuk,
Where did you hear this? I'm interested because both my girlfriend and I will be signing GEPIK contracts next month and we were under the impression that 14 official vacation days is all we got.
Cheers in advance. |

some of the job postings for GEPIK that i've seen recently have stated 20 days of vacation.
here's a thread about it:

I phoned Wenise Kim (from the board of education) and she told me from September onwards, GEPIK contracts will offer 20 days vacation.
Strangely, she said if I wanted to transfer schools I'd need to find the new school myself. However, my phone line is rubbish and I am making allowances for any shortcomings in her English.
Anyway, I may transfer schools next year for a fresh start, I'll ask the recruiter who found me this job to find a new school.
They (the recruiter) found me plenty of offers earlier this year but I was unaware I should have told my school about my plans to move, 2 months before the end of my contract.
Whatever happens, GEPIK will now offer a total of 6 weeks vacation (excluding national holidays) if you renew at the same school, which means I don't care about working with SMOE anymore.
For me the main issue with GEPIK was vacation time and now that problem has been solved. |
