Current contract ends 8/25. I will be leaving the country, but returning to start new employment come 9/1. Can I apply for pension? I don't really need it...but my ct is stressing me about canelling my pension and bank acct. |

i was told by the pension office that besides showing proof of departure to them, they wouldn't transfer my pension refund to my home account for 6 weeks or so.
if you're only gone a week, i'm assuming the gov't pension office will realize that when your new school tries to start another pension account using the same ARC number. i'm not 100% though, i know some people here have said that they were able to get their money almost immediately
edit: why is your co-teacher bothering you about closing them? the pension fund is yours and so is the bank account. you can leave korea forever and not close that bank account and there's nothing he can do about it. tell him to that you'll take care of your business. |

You don't cancel pension. Your next school will enroll you automatically (provided they aren't scamming douchebags). You can't apply for pension unless you leave Korea permanently.
And if you're coming back for another job, why would you close your bank account.
Perhaps your CT is an idiot. |

I do want to keep my bank acct open, but his logic is that the school helped me open it and the school is the only people that deposits money into it--it should be canceled when i'm no longer working for the school.
Normally, I would argue about it but I am so tired of his bs/crap I don't care about little things anymore. If anything, my new school will just help me open a new acct. It's not worth bumping heads with him over this little issue.
I don't need my pension now--just needed clarification. Thanks everyone. |

Yes, you have no idea. He became my ct in April and it has been hell since. I've waited so long for these last few days. I almost thought I couldn't make it. If my next one is anything like him, I'm on the next plane home. |

Then tell him you'll close it once all the money they owe you is deposited into it. Once you have the money, keep it open. |

I did tell him the line and he said all money will be paid to me on the 25th and we will go to the bank together to confirm and cancel. Another reason I left this issue alone because I was having problems getting my severance, housing deposit, etc refunded. At least this way, I'll get everything. |

I would still, once you're at the bank and confirm all the money is there, stand up and walk out. It's your bank account and you'll continue using it. I would even go so far as to tell him off. He is not a slavemaster and you are not a slave. You are actually allowed to possess your own things in this country.
If you want to continue to be tactful about it, say your CC is tied to the account and you are not cancelling the bank account because you are not cancelling the CC. |

For some reason, it's important for you to close down your accounts. Why that is exactly, who the *beep* knows. I'd go ahead and do what the dude wants, even though pension may not transfer your funds when that office discovers you're working at a new job so soon. No problem, though. Just keep adding to it through this new job. |
