Why? It's 25-30,000 here, and maybe $5 for a used copy on the street in Bangkok. Far better to buy there.

I bought a new LP Thailand in a shop on Khao San Road 4 months ago for like 975 baht and it's useful, but not the end all for travel info. I did see knock off pirated copies later on in my travels for really cheap which you can just throw away as to avoid flying with books taking up precious luggage space.

I did bring my LP Thailand back since it developed sentimental value and I plan on using it again next Winter.

Thailand has to be the most beautiful and most pleasant country to visit on vacation or holiday. It is a real priveledge to do things like this and is a great self reward for the challenge of teaching in Korea, a much less desirable international destination, but it pays bills and allows money to do the things you really want in life such as traveling SE Asia.

Lonely Planet Thailand is a terrible guidebook.

Footprint Thailand is an excellent guidebook.

The Thailand Lonley Planets section on massage is full of lies. It's written by some pathetic politically correct muffin boy straight out of an " International Developement degree. It starts something like this

" Only the most unsensitive men are not saddened by the image of fifty women sitting behind glass with numbers on them"

What's wrong with that? Do you thinks it's better in other parts of the world where whores are forced to work the street and routinely beaten up by pimps. Then it goes on to warn about Aids. Which is not a risk in these places becouse there is a 100% condom rule. Finally it mentions that some of the women there are bonded labour and not there by choice more lies.

There's a similar section in the Philippines book. I wrote and complained to them about it.
