and I've already done all the basic stuff there and I don't have much money. I'm basically going there because I was really really stupid about buying plane tickets and now I have to go there. Is there anything really cool there that I may have missed the first time around? I'm considering just taking some valiums and paying $130 for the luxury lounge/buffet in the airport for 24 hrs. Last time I was in Hong Kong it was fun because I was with my parents and we spent a lot of money and went to really classy places, but it seemed like there was an enormous lack of culture and everything is so expensive and the city was just an enormous shopping center, so if I'm wrong please let me know. |

- Catch the fast ferry from HK to Macau and sit in the pub there drinking Macanese (spelling?) beer.
- Visit the central mosque. Really interesting. You'll learn something.
- Go to the top of the peak and go for a walk, nice gardens, scenery. I could sit there all day and just watch the boats on the harbor below. |

You can kill some time and have a nice little day trip by taking the slow ferry from HK Island to Cheung Chau Island....it is a fishing island. The slow ferry is a nice little ride and you can get a seafood dinner/lunch on the island.
I lived in HK for about 6 years and this was one of my favourite things to do when we had guests. |

There is a ferry from HK airport to Macau. If that appeals to you, best you ask for details before you exit the airport`s secured area to Arrivals.
I arrived in HK on Christmas Eve 2006, and imediately took that ferry to Macau, spending a few days there.
Why not extend your HK & area stay to more than 24 hrs - previous posters have had some very interesting suggestions... |

Llahma island is a short 20 minute boat ride from the main ferry terminal downtown. It has lots of cheap guest houses around 300 hk dollars. There are lots of ex-pat hippies there and it has many places to get a beer. It even has an organic cafe. |
