|

So I was told that I got the job.
I assembled the laundry list of documents and sent them out about two weeks ago.
My recruiter told me that we were now waiting on a "letter of invitation" for confirmation of placement, which I have yet to recieve via E-mail or regular mail.
Does anyone have any experience with this, should it really take this long???? Thanks for any help. |

Around the same time - a couple of weeks ago.
I think they sent out all the letters at the same time - did you get the FEDEX tracking number from your recruiter? Ask for it - I bet it's on its way. |

I got my confirmation package on Tuesday July 29th via FedEx. I'm pretty sure some people got the notice earlier than me since I remember reading some threads about it earlier on Dave's.
I sent my documents on the 9th of July and they should have "arrived" in Korea on July 15th. The recruiter dude in Korea said he received my documents on the 22nd. I was supposed to get an email with a tracking number for the SMOE Notice package but never did so I stressed a bit until Tuesday. |

I just found out today that SMOE mailed my packet to a school I used to work for in Korea. I'm in the States now with plans and a ticket to go to Costa Rica till the 14th of August.
I had to resign my contract and send it to them.
I have no idea how to work this out now.
So I wouldn't stress. There are worse shoes to be in right now. |

I'm still waiting... dang. Because I don't have a diploma yet, I needed to send a letter of graduation, which was the last document I needed to send to my recruiter, and did almost two weeks ago. I sent the original but was later informed that I needed to send an apostilled copy. Good thing I made copies of it before I mailed the original, but the whole process tacked on another week: to notarize and mail out/receive the letter for the apostille, then send it to my recruiter (which I did yesterday). She still needs to receive it and send it to Korea. This will probably take another week or so. I wish they would have been ok with the original copy which, in my opinion, is more valid than the cheap copy with an apostille on it; it was so bling that if I held the stationary up to the light, little numbers appeared, the way faces appear on currency. Dang... Hope I didn't miss the boat, considering it's the last day of July. |

I'm running low on time. I've got another week before my transcripts will arrive with SMOE. All the other materials are with my recruiter and in order.
What will I need from the confirmation package? I'd assume it's mostly paperwork, and some sort of visa number that I take to my local Korean embassy. Is there any way that I can get my visa sorted earlier? such as getting the confirmation number emailed directly to me? |

I'm still waiting as well. Starting to get nervous...
Any clue as to how long the visa takes? They say 1-3 days, but god knows I was told "One week" to process my contract package and it's been since the 11th. The time, it keeps on ticking closer to the date I'll be jobless and homeless and ready to move to Korea...assuming they'll even still take me. |

Although my situation is a little different (I was in Korea and got my documents from SMOE there to obtain the new visa while I am home for vacation). I express mailed everything to the consulate in Atlanta with prepaid express back to me. I mailed everything out on July 29 and got my passport and visa back on August 1. So, unless you have to do an interview, it shouldn't take that long to process and receive it. |

Kinda hate to bump this if I'm the only one still waiting. So...like...really. Anyone else still waiting? My recruiter, who has been really great up until now keeps telling me "no news is good news," which is more or less a non-answer as far as I'm concerned. No "I'll look into it" or anything like that. I'm starting to get more and more worried as every day passes and I haven't heard anything at all.
Assuming I get the confirmation stuff tomorrow, will I even have time to get the visa sorted out before the 24th? I'm starting to think I won't because it'll take me a day to fill out the paperwork, at least a day in shipping, two to three days (MINIMUM!) for them to process the visa, and then at least a day to send it back. That makes 7 business days, which doesn't account for the event that I need an interview.
Should I be worried? Heeeelp! |

I got all of my stuff in a fedex about a week ago....
I wouldn't really start bugging out hard until maybe this time next week.
It took me 2 days to get my visa. I went there, filled out the application, gave them my Notice of Appt., a copy of the contract, a pic of myself, and $45 and I was able to pick my passport up the following day... my visa too 24 hrs not a week so don't really stress about that. You can maybe even E-mail SMOE yourself by going to their website and seeing what the dilly is.
You have a week before things look really grim...
P.S. who is your recruiter? |

ASK Now.
Despite what one poster seems to say, I've been really happy with them. They're nice and usually quick to respond. I guess i badgered them into calling SMOE for me because Jason is calling them at the mo to at least confirm that I've gotten all of my docs and stuff.
I'm naturally a worrier, so I'd like to know sooner rather than later.
As it stands I could be jobless and homeless in the next three weeks, so I reeeeally need to find out. For peace of mind. |
