Anyone want to give their input on the Mokdong station area ... looks like I'm gonna accept a new position there and just curious as to the happenings in the area - as to food, shopping for food, shopping, etc ...

I've only gone that way to get my ARC in Omokgyo

It's good. The Hyundae Department Store is there so there are movies. It is a fairly wealthy area with lots to do it looks. I lived near in Balsan area and went to MokDong often enough.

It also has these big apartment office towers.
What you want is to talk your boss into getting you an apartment in one of these. Say you'll settle for a roomate even.

I've been around there a few times, shopping and eating, no drinking. It's a nice place, there are a good group of shops there (Puma, Levi's, Benetton etc.), a few western restaurants (Outback, Subway, BK etc), gyms etc.

I wouldn't mind living there myself, hope you like it!

Mok Dong has only a handful of hokwons. Time will tell if you landed at a good one. Stay away from the one across from TGIF. Actually two across the street from TGIF and the one next to Beneigan's.

The Mokdong Ice Rink is there! You can go for a leisurely skate or check out some hockey games.

If you're a player you can join us for some rec hockey on Sunday mornings.

Check out www.seoulcitychiefs.com for more info, or contact me via PM.

Well I signed my contract today and will start soon, got a couple weeks free time. I'm overly sensitive on access to my home-like things, especially food and parks and such - not much for the bars and so on. So I guess it'll be nice out there - though not as if I'm going 3 hours from Seoul or anything. I'm interested in playing on the ice as well. But after having my knees and other things fixed so many times and the fact I've not been on ice in around 5 years, I kind of shudder at thinking of playing or skating again. But, I'd love to get the hang of the ice and learn to play hockey all over again too ..... e-mail/PM me or I will contact you.

Thanks ....
