I am home in the US for a visit. My passport expires in Feb. 2009. I want to get it re-newed while I am here. How long will it take to get it re-newed ? Has anyone on this board done this ? |

I renewed my passport for the US here in Korea, through the American Embassy, and it only took 2 weeks. I would assume it is the same while doing it in the states. |

With things like adding pages to your passport and renewing your passport on average it's a lot faster to get it done abroad. Adding pages can be done the same day (in about 20 mins) at most consulates. Passports were taking MONTHS to complete in the USA and only days to complete outside the USA at consulates.
Given the choice, I'd do it abroad.

I got it re-newed when I was home. It took 9 days for me to get my new passport. My old passport was mailed back separately. |
