				| Just wondering if anyone has any insight into this possible problem.
I finished my contract and left the country for a vacation and to obtain my new visa. Airport immigration made me surrender my ARC. I still have an active cell phone and bank account that I had opened using that ARC. I'm guessing my new ARC will not have the same registration number.

Has anyone run into this before? Was it a problem?

				| I have an LG phone and a KB Star (kookmin) bank account. I did the same thing as you left them active when I left (I actually came back with a new passport as well). I didn't have any problem with either. I walked in said I had gotten a new card and they changed all the information for me. With your phone they actually make you come in once a year to update your information anyway.
Also if you are out of the country for more then a month or so, a lot of your accounts become deactivated. I had to use my card at a KB bank before I could use it again elsewhere, and I had to go in and reactivate my phone.

				| OP, I believe that your ARC number is the same should you leave and return. It's at least partially based on personal info.
 Can anyone confirm this?

				| I've had 5 E-2 visas in 3 different cities and I've had the same number all along, so I guess it's a tossup.
I was surprised when I had to drop 30k to get a reentry permit on my most recent trip out of the country cuz I had my visa extended. So I lost my multiple reentry permit that I used to automatically get. I don't know why I lost it for extending but that's how it goes.

I've only had to surrender my ARC on my way out once out of the few times I was leaving cuz my visa expired, the other times they didn't ask. Got the same number even though I was in a different city the next time.

				| For me, new Immi. office, new Arc= new number.
If you re-register at the same office, perhaps you get the same number again.

You will be able to use your bank account, but your passport will have to suffice as ID.

I explicitly tell the immigration office to give me my old number, and they do.

Five different jobs, four different offices == three different ARC numbers.

ARC number should stay the same assuming you are using the same immigration office. But, there are always exceptions.

The biggest issue from my experience was when I had to get a new passport. The number changed and my bank could no longer send money home to Canada for me. They were completely dumbfounded by the change in number.

I had to close my account right there and then, leave with a bag full of man wons and open an account across the street.
