| I am glad that I have a Visa Card from KB Bank and don't have to withdraw cash. |

This has never happened to me in 4 years in Korea. You can safely ignore his advice. I've never known any other foreigner in Korea to experience this.
It is, however, prudent to withdraw cash during long chuseok and sollal holidays. Several years ago the Woori bank shut down its atm network for the whole holiday to swap out software. They informed everyone, in Korean. But if you didn't read Korean you were mostly screwed. |

I've never had a problem getting cash on holiday weekends, except one Chuseok weekend several years ago that was 5 days long.
Plus, friends that work in banks tell me that the junior employees are required to go in on the long weekends to refill the machines, even though it's a holiday! |

| I think they spit out checks if they run out of cash - happened to me anyway a few years ago. |

| Five years here and I am yet to see an ATM that has run out of cash. |

| I have seen ATMs run out of cash, during weekends, in: Itaewon, Yongsan, Myeong-Dong, and Ilsan. It does happen and don't let it happen to you. |

Oh, baloney. Dude, it's a just a long weekend; it's not like the country is shutting down for a week. And with the gazillions of ATMs in this country, all of them running out of cash is very unlikely. |

Whatever. If you don't need cash on Sunday, then have a good time. Some of us HAVE PLANS that require money. |

In eight years here I've never had a problem before. Not worried. Have a good weekend. |

| I've spent every national holiday there is in Korea (some three times) at one point or another, and I have never found all ATMs to be out of money. If one is empty, jsut walk 20 yards to the next one. |

I think we can safely say the OP simply does not know what he's talking about. Next brilliant suggestion?
So for those living in Myeong Dong and Itaewon and you're unable to travel one neighborhood over, oh my god, run for the hills! Put gold coins in your mattresses! Listen to this oh so savvy urban survivalist.
For those not billeted by your school in the hot tourist districts or you can use the subway to go one stop, simply ignore this man's advice. |

You weren't in Korea in 2001. It did used to happen. Yes, there were always others to try. |

It does still happen occasionally, more so out in the bush or in regional centres. 99% of the time you can find somewhere you can get money out. But, I have myself been caught out once, and a couple of times when it took a good half an hour or so to find an atm which had cash and know others too who have as well.
It's handy advice, which doesn't need all the sarcasm that's been attached to it. |
