I especially like this comment:

"The best selling book in North Korea is a book called HOW I ESCAPED SOUTH KOREA. It's about a hero who escaped the terrible regime of South Korea to find heaven in North Korea"

Interesting photo book. Surprised he was able to take so many pictures considering all the rules I've heard about visiting the north.

Interesting group of photos. It shows the "good" side of North Korea.

Of course you won't want to see the bad side. Like the starvation in the countryside or the generational concentration camps.

Here's an interesting video from 60 minutes:

anyone ever been to nk? Been offered a place on a tour of gaesong in october, will cost a few bob- i.e 300k from seoul and back. Is the gaesong tour decent, i.e will you see much of urban nk, not interested in seeing temples, waterfalls etc.

1st i have to get my visa changed to multi, then i look 4ward to getting a north korean stamp.

would much rather do the poynyang tour but costs a bomb and you have to go from china.

One thing I noticed was the lack of litter all over creation. Too bad South Koreans can't figure out that the roads, sidewalks, and ground aren't their personal trashcans and ashtrays.

They don't walk the streets much, and when they do they don't have anything to litter.

I wonder if North Korea is a bad as it is cracked up to be and, if it is, what causes that. Is it that the regime is even more inherently evil than Western regimes, or simply that since they don't play ball with the global elite they are locked out of the global rationing system, leading to an acute shortage of resources?

Mostly, it's due to the gov't.

We used to have trash cans around here circa 2002. Then they started charging for garbage bags. Koreans didn't like paying for them, so many protested by dumping their garbage in public cans. The gov't went to the expense of first paying thousands of dollars to install manned cameras attached to loudspeakers to literally bark at people for dumping garbage in the wrong places. When that wasn't enough, they started removing trash cans from around the city. Now, as you can tell, there are very few.

So now we have garbage everywhere floating in the streets.

Korean logic at its finest.
