Ronnie Drew was great. Unique singing voice and guitar style. Him and Luke Kelly together in one band was such a meeting of talents.
If you can find it, download the documentary, 'Folk Hibernia'. Made by the BBC, I think. http://thebox.bz/details.php?id=32950
It has many wonderful clips. Brenden Behan drunk and singing. The old guys who kept trad. Irish music going before it became fashionable again. Like Willie Clancy, the best uilleann pipes player ever, IMO. Plus, lots of Ronnie Drew and Luke Kelly. |
