I am looking to have a ring made for my wife for our anniversary. Does anyone know any sepcific Jewellers who will do this?

I live in Gangneung but am willing to travel to Seoul.

Thanks all.

Don't live in Seoul, but I had matching rings made for my wife and myself. I just walked into different stores and asked them if they could make rings. I think it was the fourth store I tried and the man said sure no problem.

You might want to just walk into several stores and ask them. If no one does it close to you, I got mine made in Daejeon.

There are a lot of Jewelers in the Jogno area in Seoul. I bought a diamond ring in Hong Kong, then bought the wedding band here in Seoul. I wanted the band to fit tightly with the diamond ring, so they needed to make some adjustments. They did, no problem.

but be careful - I also had a very expensive Gold diamond wedding ring made - and i insisted that it have 25 diamonds in it...

I paid them a huge fee...

and it was just a couple of weeks later when my "then fiance" had it valued - that we discovered the diamonds were all very poor-quality and the ring was worth very little...

the "Jewellers" who made it - would not refund, or replace the stones etc - said - thats what we had bought from them and thats it....

(If you are paying them to put diamonds and other stones in - be careful - they probably will put in very poor quality stones - but charge you a lot)...

If you are getting diamonds in them, make sure that the diamonds come with a quality certificate, such as a GIA. We wanted a specific cut of diamond, the princess cut, and searched all over Seoul. They aren't popular, so would've cost a fortune, hence why we bought it in Hong Kong. Also, if you are getting a diamond, try to get one that is .01 lower than you want. We bought a .49, and cost a lot cheaper than the .5, and really no way of telling the difference.

If you get a GIA diamond, a number will be ingrained on the inside of the diamond.

Thanks for the info. I'll try that area out...and I think I'll go for the certified diamonds as you suggested.

Cheers.

Don't get a ring made! Simple, unless of course you believe in flushing 75% of your money down the toilet.

Of course when you get a ring valued, the valuation is MUCH less than what you paid for it. DUH how do you think the jeweller makes his money.

Estate jewellers buy their stock from auction houses. Then they put on a 400% mark up.

Go to a jewellery auction place. A high quality 1 carat ring that retails for $10,000 you can pick up for around $2,500. Then spend a few bucks getting it cleaned, buy a new presentation box for $2 and with the $7,000+ you save go have a great honeymoon.
