Tomorrow, I'll return to school for just 2 days of summer camp before regular class resumes next Monday.

I recently visited the tourist sites in London with my wife. I bought a souvenir from London, it's a nice looking plate with famous landmarks printed on it. I intend to give that to my Principal tomorrow.

The past arguments I've had with my co-teacher meant we had to meet the Principal to discuss various issues. As an act of diplomacy, I intend to give him the souvenir.

I've read threads which state various native teachers have not had their contract renewed. I'm on my second contract at the same school.

I am hopeful the souvenir will be enough to ensure another contract at the same school will be available, next May. I know it would be an effort for the school to find a new teacher, and I plan to stay where I am.

However, I do tend to change my mind quite often. For the sake of variety and to keep things interesting, I will also consider a new job for next year. If I were told they don't want to renew next year, I hope to have another job lined up, so I can transfer to it without needing a visa run.

To give you some background, I have never exchanged any gifts at all since working at this school. But seeing as I recently visited home for the first time since coming to Korea, I see this as a valid opportunity to give a positive signal to my Principal.

I hope they'll want me for a third year.

Since GEPIK has increased its vacation time from 14 to 20 working days, this means I'll get a minimum of 6 weeks vacation a year, if I stay at this school. This excludes national holidays. I was thinking about SMOE, but now I will stay with GEPIK.

I'm ashamed to admit it, but I am actually bored of doing nothing. I almost want to return to work.

I also haven't posted anything new on this forum for a while, because I am running out of things to discuss. Laughing Cool Very Happy Smile Surprised Cool

From September onwards, I was told by Wenise, GEPIK has increased the vacation time from 14 to 20 working days.

Look on the job board, when recruiters offer GEPIK contracts, notice the vacation time is 20 days.

I like GEPIK, I like GEPIK, I like GEPIK...... Laughing
