Hi there,

I'm due to be send for my criminal check back in Canada soon. I was told by my employer today that the best place to be fingerprinted is at a police station near city hall. Apparently, while many stations can do it, this particular police station has been appointed by immigration as 'foreigner friendly' and understand exactly what needs to be on the form, types of fingerprints, etc. Does anyone have any information on this or directions? Thank you in advance.

Maybe the rules are different in Canada, but can't you get a local check without the fingerprints?

We went to the Yongsan main police station on Saturday to get it done. Note, however, that we ended up there after having been given the run around by about 3 other smaller police stations in the area.

That being said, my directions might be a bit sketchy. We were at the Police station which in near the Samgakji subway station (brown line). where they gave us directions. The police stations name is Noksapyeong (NB this is the POLICE stations name, if taking the subway, get off at samgakji). Out side the police station, slightly to the right there's a small bus stop, you need to get on the number 03 bus. It's small 15 seater style green bus. It's about 2 stops from there's to Yongsan police station (there's little route map in the bus) from the bus stop when you get off, there's a sign pointing to the policestation, it's up a smaller road on a bit of a slope.

It's not easy when you get in there but after much asking and the front desk-guy running around looking clueless, we were lead to the back and they did the prints.

All I can say is good luck, it's not an easy task at all.

thank you for your help everyone. one more question - for those whom have been fingerprinted here in seoul and are canadian, did you have to send away for a specific form from the RCMP? i've been told that you simply cannot show up at the police station and be fingerprinted ... a specific form must be sent to you from the RCMP. anyone know if this is true? thanks again!
