had enough of this kindergarten hagwon, absolutly hate it,

im doing 44 hours a week, along with a 12 hour shift for a parents evening once every 2 weeks and once a month they want me to go to somewhere else for a training day, this month it is in deajon, id leave at 7.30, and return at about 8.30- 13 hours on my weekend off, all because it says in my contract i must attend all staff meetings and seminars- silly me for thinking those would be for about an hour once every 2 weeks at most

its a load of rubbish, all in korean and as a native speaker i dont see why i need to learn how to pronounce letters, id planned on going to seoul this weekend for a night out and to get a break.

so, can i ask for a release letter, after all they have been breaking the contract, (late pay, asked to teach at another hagwon illegally, no curriculum)

or is it as simple as saying, i will not do this, if you insist that i do it i will leave korea next week.??? how else can i get out of it?

This is one of biggest problems about having an E2. Expect lots of trouble.

Weapons at your disposal:

- the threat of quitting immediately if you're not given a pre-signed LOR.
- a list of students' parents' phone numbers and a bilingual Korean friend.
- the threat of making a big scene.

It would be nice if things like this could be handled with some courtesy but that's rarely the case. Expect your employer to be very offended and upset, or to try to talk you out of it by making promises he won't keep.
