Batten down the hatches, next month is the Olympics and about 3 solid weeks of opportunity for Korea to be screwed out of medals and slighted in about a dozen ways. So any predictions on Korea's lost medal tally? I think Koreans are feeling increasingly comfortable on the international stage and can now whine with the best of them (Canadians).

My prediction. Korea will rack up a tally of 2 lost gold medals. One in diving and one in gymnastics. I'd say archery but those events aren't really judged.

I wanna see a real good table tennis screwing. A good, solid 'gold medal terrorist' table tennis screwing.

Badminton would do, too.

Very possible. Since the Koreans are formidable challengers to the hometown Chinese. Lets see the Chinese get some hometown calls.

Where there any during the Athens games? I don't seem to recall any, and just have memories of the 2006 'offside' goal in the WC vs the Swiss.

Big one. American gymnast Paul Hamm "cheated" Korea out of their gymnastic golden glory.

How do you expect Koreans to win with all these extra stupid rules? Now, make sure you have the Koreans make the rule book (with a few blank pages) and they will show the world that they are superior in every way.

Cheers, I knew there was one but couldn't recall. Must be because I regard Gymnastics as being up there with Synchronized Swimming in the excitement stakes! yawn. Wink

Actually, it can't be stolen, but men's swimming is going to be interesting, as this year the American team is pretty darn good and the Koreans have Park Tae Hwan.

If you want to see Olympic robbery, you can't beat this.

Anyone know of a good internet site to watch it? Nbc blacks out Korea and I just have basic cable here, so I'd like to watch a ton of it, as I'm on vacation and a huge sports fan.

On edit: this video has some good knockouts by Jones, I watched a lot of these fights. He was really talented, a superb boxer.

From wikipedia

Quote:
Jones represented the United States at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games where he won the silver medal. Jones dominated his opponents, never losing a single round on route to the final. His participation in the final proved to be hugely controversial when he lost a highly disputed 3-2 decision in the final. Jones lost to South Korean fighter Park Si-Hun, despite pummeling Park for three rounds, landing 86 punches to Park's 32. Allegedly, Park himself apologized to Jones afterwards. One judge shortly thereafter admitted the decision was a mistake, and all three judges voting against Jones were eventually suspended. An official IOC investigation concluding in 1997 found that 3 of the judges were wined and dined by Korean officials, but the IOC still officially stands by the decision. Jones was awarded the Val Barker trophy as the best stylistic boxer of the 1988 games. The incident, along with another highly disputed decision against American Michael Carbajal in the same games, led Olympic organizers to establish a new scoring system for Olympic boxing.

Aren't Koreans the best archers in the world? That's what a Korean told me once. He said that they've been practicing archery for millenia and nowhere in the world will one find a more accurate archer than in Korea.

Baseball

Especially with all those excellent baseball powers in the mix - China, Cuba, Taiwan, USA, Japan etc.

Should I throw Canada in the lot?
